Christmas in July

Hello! Summer is just about half over.( ack! how did that happen???!!)... soon the stores will be advertising their back to school sales, but right now I'm thinking more about Christmas. My fav companies have started with their Christmas lines and so many blog challenges are Christmas in July, so I just had to make a card!

I had this vintage image that I got off the web ages ago that I really wanted to use.

I useda mulberry poinsetta  and some crochet ribbon to complement the vinatge image, which I spritzed with Glimmer Mist in Walnut Gold and then I accented the berries with a little red Stickles and Liquid Pearls. The green cardstock was ran through my Bigshot  (  I used a folder from Stampin' Up!) and I loved how some of the flowers looked distressed with just a wee bit of the white core peeking through.

While there are so  many Christmas themed challenges this week, I'm entering mine at :

Jingle Belles- Santa Baby challenge
and
Creative Belli Blog- Christmas in July

Beach card and my Copic Coloring steps.

Hello! I'm  back to share with you a card I recently made using a digi stamp from Shelly's Images. I fell in love with this beach scene , but I was a little intimidated by the amount of coloring it required.I have no training with Copics , so it's alot of trial and error when it comes to my coloring techniques!!I originally owned just a few markers in the basic colors--- talk about a challenge trying to color with only a few shades!! But my collection has  over 120! Now coloring is fun, and easier!! I still have lots to learn, though!

I started with this  basic  digi image, printed on SU white cardstock and left overnight so the ink wouldn't smudge......

I then got out my Copics and started......

Now that wasn't so bad, so I then colored the ocean .......

A few more shades of blue and some pinks for the sky and sunset, and some grey for the fence....

Now it's starting to look pretty good!!!!
Now, on to the trees and grass- lots of shades of green here!

Now onto the bricks... lots of browns used here...

And finally, the rocks need to be shaded with greys......

Now the image is colored, I need to just to decorate a card and it's finished!!!!!!

I  love the papers in Fancy Pant's Summer's End line.... they are perfect for summer scrappages or for a summer "chillin" card like this one! The stamp and wooden seashell are CTMH products.

It takes awhile to color an image as detailed as this but the end result is so worth it!

Anyhoo... thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog today! Have a great day!!

Shoppig Our Stash 61 : Something new

Hello! I'm back  with another SOS card - this week the DT at Shopping Our Stash  are challenging us to use something new for this week's card! Yup, we have to finally tear open that package of stickers, ink up a new stamp , cut or embellish a piece of lovely dp/ cs whatever it is that youmay  have been saving for the perfect time to use 'em! Well, folks, that time is now ..... I made my card using some lovely new patterned papers from Glitz called Afternoon Muse. I love this 8x8 size- it's great for scrapping or cardmaking , and each pack has loads of fab papers to play with!!!( I got mine at Two Peas In a Bucket.)
I love the vintage look of the papers in this pack and that my card has a soft vintage feel to it.....

I got the inspiration for this card from the Glitz blog ( click here to see the post). I searched through my stash of ribbons and flowers and came up with this combo and I used a CTMH stamp for the flags.

So that's my card for another SOS challenge --- two weeks  in a row I've managed to play along!! ***woot-woot!!!***

Thanks for stopping by... have a great day!!!

Travel scrappage

Good afternoon! I'm still working on travel pages from my trip to the UK last spring. Well, actually, this layout is really about my love of travel! If I could, I would take a trip every couple of months, but alas, my current lack of wealth keeps me home!! :)  Oh well, at least I can scrap where I've been already, like this page...

I used some travel paper from Basic Grey for the background and I made the destination flags with scraps of paper I had lying around on my workspace ( really, i needed to clean that area up!!!) The embellies are from October Afternoon . The stickers are American Crafts ( orange letters) and the foam letters are from an unknown source. I love this clean and simple page... so easy and fast!!!

Thanks for visiting my blog today!!!!

Shopping Our Stash (60)... precious birthday

Good evening! I have to confess that I love buying scrapping supplies- all those lovely papers, ribbons and flowers! I have accumulated quite a bit , but I hestitate using them , I'm always saving that special flower or brad for just the right occasion. Well , the  clever DT at Shopping Our Stash are  inviting us to pull out those "precious" products and use them!!!! I decided that I would use some of my flower hoard collection and maybe even a brad or two for my card!

Those lovely mulberry flowers on the top are from a collection that I got ages ago , but they just sat there, looking oh so pretty in their glass jar ,until now!!! Yup,I used 5 of these beauties  plus some of my precious crochet ribbon I got at Ribbon Carousel last spring. I even used some of my new paper for the front ( Fancy Pants "Summer Soul" collection). I really love the soft vintage-y feel of this card.
The brad is retired SU! ( 2-3 campaigns ago, I think!) and the pearls are also SU.

Thanks for looking and please check out what the DT at SOS for this week's challenge- you are sure to be inspired to use some of your own precious items on your next project!

Until next time... happy crafting!

Hybrid stamping- Sweet digi card

Good evening! I wanted to share with you a cute little hybrid card I made using a digi image from Tiddly Inks . I love their Wryn line- she's so adorable! This set has several cute and very girlie images to play with.

I colored Wryn with my Copics ...not too sure if I like how her hair turned out.... but it what it is,now!! The cheerful and yummy looking paper is from Stampin' Up! ( retired from last catty). The sentiment is included with the digi stamp.

I used this sketch from Deconstructed Sketches for my card...

I love all those layers! It challenges me to me to use my stash of dp!!!I need that!

Anyhooo... that's my hybrid card. Thanks for looking!!

Jingle Belles/Mojo Monday card

Good afternoon! Since we are on day #2 of rain , I thought I would finally play along with some of my fav blog challenges, Jingle Belles and Mojo Monday. Over at Jingle Belles, June Houck is the guest belle and she has a clever prompt for us this week. Her challenge is for us to make a card that is either red OR green but not both! Hmmm, I thought this would be easy-peasy! But when I started searching through my stash I couldn't beleive how much of paper has both colors in it!!! But , luckily, I started buying 6X6 paper pads for cardmaking and I had one by Basic Grey called Nordic Holiday that had some really nice red papers.
So here's what I came up with......

No green here!! yay! I don't know if I've tried the red-grey combo for Christmas cards before, but I'm super pleased with this card! I used A Flourish stamp set  called Sentimental Christmas for outside greeting and the gift box ( from a Recollections set) was embossed in shimmery white embossing powder. The ribbon is from Stampin' Up!, as well as the cardbase in Basic Grey.

I used the sketch from Mojo Monday for inspiration........

So that's my card for those challenges---- thanks for stopping by my blog today!!
Have a great day!!!

Wedding cards

I'm back!!! I did not fall off the edge of the earth , although some days it felt like I did!!! I have been super busy with the end of school , and then sending both of my girls off to Cadet camp , plus, it's been unseasonably hot here in NL! My craft room feels like a sauna!!! Ah, but today we have rain  and it's nice and cool upstairs, finally, and I can sit and enjoy my room once again!!! I needed to make a couple of wedding cards for a friend. Here they are.....

I used a little of everything for this card! For the sentiment on the front, I dug out my Cri-Kit pens and drew the sentiment "Mr and Mrs" ( black gel pen) from Wrap it Up and then went back and added the wineglasses in gold gel pen. I love the effect! I then used my alltime fav cartridge, Art Philosophy , for the flowers- they are cut in sizes 1"-1.5" and then sprayed with a few shades of Glimmer Mist for some color. The inside greeting is from a retired Hostess set called Occasional Quotes.

Here's the second card.....

I still have lots of gorgeous SU! dsp just waiting to be used , like this lovely grey patterned paper.I kept this card simple, with just a little bling for the flowers and a Want-2-Scrap flourish on the front. The inside sentiment is from One in a Million stamp set from the new Stampin' Up! catalogue. The flourish stamp on the inside is from a Fiskars set. The outside greeting is from SU!'s Teeny Tiny Wishes, which I embossed on black cardstock.

Oh, how I've missed my craftroom!! Hopefully I can some more crafting done before the heat  returns!! ( But then sunshine = beach time!! yay!!!)

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! Have a great day!!
