Mojo Monday 485

Happy Friday! I finally had a break from midterms , so I wanted to get crafty. I decided to play along with this week's sketch challenge at Mojo Monday for some inspiration. Here is the current sketch:

I decided to make a shaker banner for my card...

I used an older paper collection from Basic Grey called  Konichiwa. I love the Japanese inspired florals and the colour combo. I stitched an piece of acetate to a banner made from the collection and added sequins ad glitter before sealing it up. The bakers twine is from October Afternoon. The sentiment and birthday cake are from Verve Stamps Big Wish stamp set. I colored the cake with my Prisma pencils and added a few dimensionals to make it pop a little, with a few Prima mini flowers for a little something extra.
Omigosh, I really enjoyed making this card... it's been so long since I've had time to do any sort of crafting!!! I'm already looking for another challenge to get my creative mojo going!!!

Go check out Mojo Monday for this great sketch and to see the awesome entries for this week's sketch! Thanks for stopping by my blog today!!!

Mojo Monday 411 : God Bless You card

Hi and welcome to my blog. Today is Monday and time for another awesome sketch by Julee Tilman for  Mojo Monday ...

The clean and simple design of this sketch really appealed to me.... so I didn't add any fussy cuts or layers for my card.

I used an older paper collection from Fancy Pants Designs (Summers End) for my paper layers and even my stamps are ones that I've had in my stash for awhile. The flowers are from a real oldie Treasure Life set that is at least 8 or 9 years old and the sentiment is from a newer set called Card Chatter-Sympathy... both stamp sets are from Close To My Heart. The buttons are Stampin' Up! - yep, more oldies!!

That's my Mojo card ... thanks for stopping by!

Mojo Monday "Hello" card

Hi and welcome to my blog. It's been awhile since I've played along with Mojo Monday , but when I saw the great sketch by Julee Tillman, I dusted off my supplies and started creating. The tall and skinny card challenges are one of my favorites .. check it out...

The first size is 3.5 x 5.5" and fits a regular A2 envelope with a little room left over to let something (like the circle in this sketch) hang off the 3.5" side. You can use either of the following measurements, depending on where you want your fold.
  • 3.5 x 11" cut of cardstock, score long side at 5.5"
  • 5.5 x 7" cut of cardstock, score long side at 3.5"
For a little more skinny, you can try a 3.5 x 6" card to fit a regular No. 6 3/4 envelope (the ones that are about the size of a personal check).  Use either of the following measurements, depending on where you want your fold.
  • 3.5 x 12" cut of cardstock, score long side at 6"
  • 6 x 7" cut of cardstock, score long side at 3.5"

Here's my card.....

This was a pretty quick card... all the papers were from Teresa Collins Family Stories 6X6 paper pad, the tag was made on my Cricut Explore using the Small Talk Frames & Tags cartridge and the sentiment is from Simple Stories. I think it took me a grand total of 20 minutes to make this card!!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!!

Treasure friendship card

Hi , I'm back with another card to share with you today. I've been pretty busy these past few weeks completing my wreath orders , but I'm in limbo right now waiting for my supplies to arrive! What better way to use my downtime than to take part in a few of my favorite challenges, right??

This week over at Frosted Designs, we are challenged to use splatter on our projects.. yes!!!! I love adding splashes of color to my cards and layouts!! The DT has some great projects to get your creative mojo going!
I'm using the current sketch over at Mojo Monday as the starting point for my card... here's the sketch;

Isn't it such a fun sketch?? Love it!!!

This is what I came up with for both challenges..........

I used leftover papers from Prima Time Traveller and My Mind's Eye Portabella Road collections . I mixed some Primary Elements by LuminArte in Emperor's Gold with Prima Art basics 3D Gloss Gel and then stencilled the grunge part of a Prima stencil along sides of the dark paper and then because I still quite abit of the mixture leftover , I grabbed my Tim Holtz  Doily stencil and covered the smallest mat. In RL this gold looks stunning, I assure you! It looks rather orange-y here, but it is much softer and has a very lovely golden shine. I had to stamp, of course, so I used a grungy background stamp from Crafty Individuals on the second mat and then I stamped randomly a word script ( Prima) over the same mat and on the top layer., using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. The lovely flowers are brand new to my stash , Magnolia  flowers. The butterfly and word stickers and ephemera are Tim Holtz Idea-ology . The burlap circle is from a scrap of burlap that I modpodged , cut out and inked the edges. I outlined the words , and just about everything else with a watered down brown Gelato color stick. Finally, I splattered the entire card with  white Gesso and this card is done!!

Mojo Monday inspired cards

Hi, I'm back with a couple more cards to share with you. I'm using the current sketch over at Mojo Monday as my inspiration. Here's the latest sketch:

I made two cards for using papers from Fancy Pants Designs Collecting Moments 6X6 paper pad.

I made the sentiment mats using a cutfile and my Silhouette machine . The sentiment for the first card was from a CTMH set called Treasure Life  and the second card greeting is from C.C Designs set called Sassy Sentiments. I think this may have been the first time in ages where I didn't ink, stencil or distress my card in any way!!! The only altering I did was add some Stickles to the flowers . So quick and easy but I love them both!!!

That's my Mojo cards this week... hope you enjoyed! Thanks for dropping by!

Mojo Monday: a Tall and Skinny card

Hi and welcome to my blog. This week over at Mojo Monday they have a Tall and Skinny card sketch to play along with. This wonderful sketch is brought to you by the very talented Julee Tilman

I used the 3.5 X6 size card for something different ( my cards tend to be 6X6" )... here's my card:

I used a few new goodies I got from my recent Blitzy order to create this sympathy card. I got a few new background stamps from Bo Bunny ( Geometric Patterns & Distressed Textures stamps)  and Tim Holtz (Mixed Media  stamps) which I used to create to background, along with some new Color Shine ( Bronzer & Mint) ink sprays from Heidi Swapp . The sentiment is from Verve Stamps set called Forever In Our Hearts. I created the hearts using some leftover paper and Stampin Up! trio blossom flower punch. Everything was distressed and inked up and a few Prima Sugar Dots and MME faux wood dots were added to finish this card.

That's my Mojo card... thanks for stopping by my blog!

Mixed Media card and Mojo Monday

Hi all! This week over at Mojo Monday its contest time ( yay!!) and they have a fun sketch , as always, to get your creative mojo going. This week's sketch is brought to you by Julee Tillman , here it is:

As if this sketch isn't enough to get your mojo going, the DT have some great samples posted in the first seven entries, plus soooo many great submissions are already  up for your viewing pleasure!!

Here's my take on the sketch:

I'm really loving the mixed media style right now..... it's just so much messy fun playing with inks, gesso and all the other awesome products out there!!!
I started off with a floral card base, added a bit of chicken wire stencil and then added my layers. Instead of a strip of paper as per the sketch, I used a large frame , with I inked and stamped using Tim Holtz stamp pads and music script stamp. The flowers were made with my Cricut and were inked with more TH sprays. The butterfly was fussy cut from a small tag. The buttons, and lace  and metal corner tag are from my stash. Finally, to finish off this card I created a smaller mat , inked it up and stamped flowers and the sentiment from Verve 's Hope Blooms set. A splattering of watered down gesso over the entire surface completes this card!!

So that's my card ....  hope you enjoyed it!
Thanks for visiting my blog today!

Mojo Monday birthday card ..... and some old Stampin' Up! stamps

Hi and welcome to my blog. As a paper crafter I tend to hoard all kinds of craft supplies , including stamps! I sold a bunch of stamps a couple of years ago but they are slowly starting to build up again!! lol While I was sorting them, maybe, just maybe thinking I might do another purge I found a couple of oldies from my Stampin' Up! days , and I decided to put them to use! What better way to get inspired than to play along with another great sketch from Mojo Monday.... here it is!

I dusted off my sets from SU! Edgy Eloquence and Wonderful Words ( I still love the script of these stamps!!) and made this card......

Actually , lots of older products were used to make this card, like bling from Prima, leftover paper from Teresa Collins Summer Stories collection and even the cardstock was from my odds n ends stash. I spritzed the Prima flower with Glimmer Mist ( yep, that's old stuff, too!!!) and then added a bit of Tim Holtz Distress  dry glitter... which really doesn't show up all that great in this photo, but trust me, it's beautiful  in RL!!!!

So that's my card .... thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful creative day!

Celebrate Today .. a birthday card

Hi and welcome to my blog. I never seem to have enough birthday cards , I'm usually scrambling to create one at the last minute! This year one of my goals is to be more organized and hopefully, more prepared as well! I've been making a few cards for different occasions , but  I still need more bday cards. To get my creative mojo flowing, I'm using this week's sketch over at Mojo Monday for my card . Here's the sketch:

Here's my card.......

I used papers from Fancy Pants Collecting Moments 6X6 paper pad and a stamp from CTMH called The party Is On , inked in Pear and Sorbet inks. Behind the sentiment and on the striped paper is a bit  of confetti stamp from Stampin Up! called Gorgeous Grunge stamp set ( in gold ink). The gold scallop border is from Teresa Collins , which I wrapped with a bit of crochet cotton. I made a clear pocket out of acetate and filled it with some sequins and a bit of glitter before sewing all sides up. Pretty simple ! I love how quick and easy this card was and that I can use it for either a child or adult's birthday!!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.... have a wonderful creative day!

Today is a good day ....... for Mojo monday

Hi all! I'm back to share a card I made for this week's Mojo Monday challenge - here's the sketch:

I played around with a few products from October Afternoon 's 9 to 5 collection with a little Fancy Pants thrown in. Take a look.........

I love the cool retro office look of the 9to5 collection. All the papers and the journaling card and twine are from October Afternoon , the clip and button are from Fancy Pants. I used my Crafters Workshop stencil Coffee Splotches to age my papers with stains. There is minimal stamping on the front of this card...a sentiment from CTMH set called All the Details and a tab from True To Life.  This was a pretty simple and fun card to make and it's versatile for different occasions. Gotta love that!!!

Anyway... that's my  Mojo card- hope you liked! Thanks for dropping by!!!

Mojo Monday card.... at the very last minute!!!

Good Sunday afternoon bloggers! As you can probably tell from my post title , I'm posting my Mojo card with little time to spare!!! I actually started my card a few days ago but then life got in the way ( yup, it seems to be doing that lots lately) and so I only just finished it and getting it here. Check  out Mojo Monday for details and lots of great inspiration.

Here's this week's sketch:

And here's my card......

I used Authentique papers for everything but the base which was CTMH Juniper cardstock.
The sentiment is a CTMH set called Card Chatter-Sympathy. I like the sentiments of this set and I think they can be used for more than sympathy- the inside of this card reads:" Just a little prayer that God will keep you in His care". I used Memento Rich Cocoa ink for the sentiement inside and out and Prima fluid chaulk inks for some edges.
I made a doily from a cutfile purchased online and cut with my Silhouette and while I was at it , I cut a circle ,too. Nice and easy! The chicken wire details were made with a Crafters Workshop stencil and crackle paste from Golden. I distressed everything with my new favorite tool, the Prima distressing tool. If you don't have this handy-dandy tool in your stash , get one!! It's so versatile- this lil' gem has a sanding surface , a distressing tool, a bone folder and a metal brush ( yup, metal) for really cool effects on your photos or papers. Best investment I've made in a long time!!

Well that's my card.. hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for stopping by today!

Winter Wonderland card

Hi all! It's offically spring and there's still snow on the ground , so of course I'm thinking winter!!! LOL Not really, but I wanted to play along with Stef and Lauren over at Jingle Belles for their Neutral Noel challenge. I haven't made a Christmas card in weeks and I know how fast the holiday season can sneak up so I really gotta get back to making a few each week. This challenge was a great place to start. Here's my card:

I used the sketch from this week's Mojo Monday for the layout of my card...

Hmmm, just noticed that I didn't add a trim beneath my border- maybe I 'll do that later!

Keeping my card neutral was challenging -- but after searching through my Xmas papers I found this oldie striped from a Michaels paper pack from a couple of years ago. It has all those neu match thetral colors plus a bit of glimmer on the stripes! Yay, I love glimmer!!! I cut out a snowflake to match the CTMH's Season's and Nature set. To make the front sentiment stand out , I heat embossed it wth SU!(retired) dark brown ep.

Thanks for stopping by today.... have a great rest of your day!!

Mojo Monday: my cup of tea

Hi, I'm back again to share another card I made.Wow- two posts in one day!!! Haven't done that in a very long time!!!!!!

To get me started, I used the sketch from this week's Mojo Monday for inspiration ....

I didn't stray from the sketch for my card ...........

This card is basically a CAS card ... the background was embossed with a Quickcutz folder and a double sided paper from MME was used for the mats ( on Night of Navy cardstock). The teacup and sentimenyt are from Verve's  Better With You Set ( inked in Night of Navy ). The flower is from Michaels and the rhinestone leaf was trimmed from a larger Prima leaf /stem flourish. I used a tiny bit of yellow floral paper , also from MME, for the teacup , for a splash of color . Really, a very simple card , but I'm pleased with how it turned out.

So that's my Mojo card for this week.... hope you enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Thinking of You card

Hi all! Wow, can you believe ut's March already??? In just 28 days my DD and I will be travelling to Germany, Hungary and Austria--- can't wait!!! We've been a year planning this trip and now that spring is almost here , I'm getting so excited!!!  But meanwhile, while I'm waiting for spring to officially arrive I thought I'd make a spring card......

I used this week's Mojo sketch for my inspiration:

Of course, I picked the round sketch - I love making round cards!!!

I used the Artiste cartridge to make the round card shape and for the bird tag. The sentiment is from Verve stamps and the papers are Amy Tangerine. The flower spray is Prima and the ink is CTMH ( Cocoa).

I'm also entering this card at:
Mojo Monday - Round or Square

"Love You" Mojo card

Hi everyone! This past week I had great plans to blog at least every other day but then this winter weather just wouldn't cooperate!!! Lots of snow, wind and kids being home = no time to stamp!!! I really liked this weeks' sketch over at Mojo Monday , so I made some time to play along.
Here's the sketch.....

I played around with the sketch a little ... here's what I came up with;

The heart was a cutfile I bought at the Silhouette online store. It's cut with a shimmery cardstock which looks a litlle washed out in this pic but is quite nice in person. The papers are from Basic Grey's Paper Cottage line. I stamped a sentiment from Verve's Swirling Hearts set.

Here's a look at the inside :

I used another Verve stamp set for the inside called Text Objects. Can you see the stitched heart behind the greeting? It stands out better in RL , but here I can barely see it!

Well, I didn't achieve my stamping goals this week but at least I managed to finish one card!!! Yay!!!
Thanks for stopping by.... have a great day!!
