The Friday Mashup 200th challenge

Hi and welcome to my blog. The Friday Mashup is celebrating their 200th challenge with a fun challenge.... we get to pick from two past challenges!! Sounds like lots of fun!! Plus, they have some great prizes up for grabs.

Here is the current challenge info:

This week's Mashup Challenge:

Create a project using your TWO favorite Mashup Challenges together on one project!
  1. Use 1 element from each of your Two Favorite Challenges together.
  2. or Use both of the elements from your Two Favorite Challenges together

With so many great challenges to pick from , this was a hard decision to make!! I wanted to pick ones that I hadn't participated in before so these were my choices:

Create a 3D project or a project with butterflies. and create a project with ripped paper or fussy cute image.

I decided to mash the butterflies and fussy cut image for my card........

I used papers from Graphic 45 'Time to Celebrate" collection. I love G45 papers ... the vintage images are so much fun to create with. These are some of the papers I used for my card:

SignaturePageTtC

SignaturePageTtC

SignaturePageTtC

I fussy cut the girl, cake , flowers and butterflies out of the paper. I used my Spellbinders die to make the background mat behind the shaker frame and inked everything with TH Distress Ink in Pumice Stone. This shade is a bit more subtle than Vintage Photo, which is what I wanted to achieve. I added some sequins inside my shaker frame and a fussy cut Bday girl and cake to the outside. To add some glam , I added Stickles to the girls hat and flowers and used my Wink Of Stella markers in clear and gold to the butterflies and cake. Finally, I cut "happy birthday" from a strip and adhered to the bottom corner , and this card is finished!!! Besides all the fussy cutting, this card was fairly simple to make and I can't wait to give it to a very special girl!!!

That's my FM 200 challenge card.... hope you enjoyed it! Don't forget to play along this week!!!

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Thinking of you Card ... an embossed embossing technique

Hi and welcome to my blog! I love trying new techniques for papercrafting and this week over at The Friday Mashup they have a challenge for us to try  heat embossing on a dry embossed card... there's a link for those who haven't tried this technique yet.
Here's the info:

This week's Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project with an "Antique Style, element or theme".
  • Create a project using the "Embossed Embossing technique" (tutorial) .
  • or Mash it Up! and create an "Antique project using the Embossed Embossing Technique".

I'm combining my card with the current  Friday challenge over at Frosted Designs which is to use recycled materials and homemade flowers.

This is my card for both challenges........

I had lots of fun with this technique!!! First , I embossed a piece of leftover ledger paper with a Tim Holtz embossing folder and then used my brayer to layer some Versaink before sprinking  TH embossing powder in Old Paper and then heat set it. To give it a more aged look, I stenciled some stains and then distressed and inked the edges. This certainly has an antique feel to it already. I made some flowers using a Stampin Up! punch for the larger flowers and my Cricut and the Art Philosophy cartridge for the smaller ones. The sentiment is an oldie from Close To My Heart called Thoughtful Seasons. My recycled items are some cheesecloth ,some dark brown hemp and buttons. To finish up the vintage look, I added a metal key and flower and a few gemstones.

That's my card for today... thanks for stopping by!

Warm friends on the coldest days

Hi and welcome to my blog! Have you made a new years resolution yet? I don't usually, probably because I tend to forget them by mid-January!! This year I hope to keep my goal of spending more creative time .... documenting my family , actually making cards ahead of occasions instead of at the last minute and maybe I might even manage to dust off my sewing machine and start last years projects!!!! Here's my first card of 2015 .... it's for the current Friday Mashup challenge:

This week's Mashup Challenge is:

  • Create a project with a "Winter theme".
  • Create a project  with "Snowflakes".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Winter project with Snowflakes".

I purchased this cute little digi image a few years ago ... the files came with ready to color images and this adorable pre-colored sweet girl and kitty. I uploaded her to my brand new Cricut Explore ( Xmas gift from hubby this year!!) and used the print and cut feature. I love how well it cut all the details ... with no white spaces!! This feature is probably my favorite thing about the Explore , but it will never replace my beloved Silhouette machine! The papers are from a Crate Paper 6X6 mini pad called Bundled Up. I love the pink snowflake paper , actually I love all the papers in this collection... its a perfect collection for winter themed papercrafts and the colors are so much fun to play with!

I pulled out my Bigshot for the hexagon shape( Spellbinders) and the pink snowflake.  I used a sentiment from CC Designs stamps called Winter Chuckles , inked in CTMH Juniper ink. A few buttons , some clear Wink of Stella glitter to the snow and my card is complete!!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

A Bokeh card

Hi again! I'm back with another card to share with you . Here's the current challenge over at The Friday Mashup:

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project with the "Bokeh Technique".  Link to technique here.
  • Create a project with "Die Cuts".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Bokeh project using a Die Cut".

 Here's my card:

I made my card using a very simple and quick from Bokeh technique that I found on Splitcoaststampers ( click here for the tutorial). I used a cityscape stamp from Hero Arts  and then created my Bokeh background using three shades of yellow ink. I fussy cut the stamped buildings and popped a few out for a more dimensional look. I stamped a banner and sentiment ( can't remember the set name!! )for the front. This card was pretty simple but I really love the Bokeh effect.

That's my card for the Friday Mashup .... thanks for looking!

A Wryn Valentine's Day card

Good afternoon! I have a cute little card to share with you today. Lately , I've been spending time coloring up images ( digi and inked) with my Copics. One of my favorite images to color are the sweet little Wryn girls from Tiddy Inks.

I used this week's challenge from Friday Mashup for my inspiration :

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using the Colors "Coastal Cabana, Real Red & Crumb Cake."
  2. Create a project using "Hearts & Arrows. "
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project using "the above colors along with Hearts & Arrows.

Here's my card:

I created the card base using my Silhouette and a purchased cutfile . This heart and arrow comes in a set of 7 different varieties- perfect for scrappers and cardmakers alike. I followed the color combo as close as I could -not sure if this is the right shade blue, but it's the closest I have!! The sentiment is an old retired Stampin' Up! hostess set.

The digi image came with a matching sentiment , which I also colored with my Copic markers.
I used the cutout of the arrow for the inside  and that's it... my card is finished!!!

This card is being sent to my sweet godchild .. I hope she likes it!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today.... have a great rest of your day!!

Feel like a Martini?? How about digi stamping?? Maybe both.....

Good evening! Now that I have put away the last of my Christmas decorations for another year , I finally am able to put some ink on my stamps ! Well, actually, not for this card, but I did manage to put my Copic markers to use again! To start with I used the sketch from this week's Friday Mashup to get my creative mojo going.

Here's the challenge:

Sketch By Cindy

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project with the "Sketch."
  2. Create a project using "the theme of Time. "
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project "a theme of Time & the Sketch."

I only used the sketch for my card this week ... here's what I made:

This little guy was a digi image I purchased last spring but it's only now that I colored him. He reminded me of my poor pooch when he had to wear the cone of shame for six weeks after he broke his leg ( my poor pup!!!).
I'm not sure if this is gonna be a get well card or just a fun card to give someone, so I left the inside blank for now.
I colored this guy last week and totally forgot to write down which Copic markers I used!!! Next time, right?????

Anyways, that's my card for the Friday Mashup this week- hope you enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by today..... have a great rest of your Sunday!!!

Hi again! I'm back with another post to share with you today. The ladies over at the Friday Mashup have a birthday themed challenge for us to play along with. Check it

  1. Make a project with a "Birthday Theme".

I can never have enough birthday cards on hand,so this challenge is perfect for me!

Here's my Mashup card ( A bday card with brads).........

The sentiement for the ront is from Verve stamps , called Big Wish. The papers are from another of my Basic Grey mini dp pads ( What's Up collection). The little chipboard bird is from Prima - I looked for the product name but I couldn't find it. Hmm! The flower was free from a Verve promotion last summer. ( Did I mention how much I love free!!!!) The  flower brad is from my stash ( maybe AC, but am not sure) and the chevron embossing folder is from Stampin' UP!. The cardstock is from CTMH. I used my EK Success circle cutter for the striped circle and the scalloped circle was made with a Spellbinders die. The stamps were inked with Memento Tuxedo Black.

Here's a view of the inside.....

The birthday greeting is from Fiskars acrylic stamp set called Make A Wish Quotes and the Happy Bday stamp is from Verve's Big Wish set. I stamped a floral flourish (
SU's Precious Butterflies) with CTMH Sorbet ink
.
So that's it, my Fridasy Mashup card! Hope you've enjoyed it!
Thabks for stopping by.... stay warm wherever you and have a great weekend!

"Welcome Winter" scrappage and Friday Mashup #90

Hi all! I've been stuck inside these past few days due to stormy weather , so I took advantage of it and played around with my Silhouette for a winter scrap layout. I love the first real snowfall of winter, when everything is so soft and fluffy looking, but then reality sets in and I realize that I truly dislike winter driving!!! How many months 'till spring???? :-)

I created the title by downloading a free font from the web and then importing it to my Silhouette cutter.... pretty simple!!! This machine does fine detail cutting beautifully!! I tried the SCAL program with my Cricut , but I could never get intricate cuts , without tearing!!! I still love my Cricut ... I used it to cut all the snowflakes , out of variuos cartridges. I made them different sizes and then welded them together , using my Gypsy.

Here's a closeup of some of the cuts. The snowflakes are cut out of glittery paper that matches very closely to SU Pool Party. The background is black and the photo is matted on a dark blue , which is close to another SU color,Midnight Muse. All of these colors are in this week's Friday Mashup challenge:

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:
  1. Make a project using "Snowflakes".
  2. Or Make a project with the colors "Whisper White, Pool Party, Midnight Muse, and Basic Black".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Snowflake Project with the colors Whisper White, Pool Party, Midnight Muse, and Basic Black".

So that's my Mashup challenge .... hope you've enjoyed it! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Have a great day!!

Thinking of you card : Friday Mashup challenge #77

Happy Monday! This weekend   rained and rained and... well, you get the picture! The kids were stuck inside and when Monday morning rolled around I was happy to send them off to school!! All that rain gave me an excuse to stay inside and check out some challenge blogs. This week the DT at Friday Mashup gave us a prompt about those warm days of fall.....

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge:

  1. Make a "Indian Summer" themed project.
  2. Or Make a project with any three colors from "Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Raspberry Ripple, Lucky Limeade & Early Espresso".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Indian Summer Themed project with the color combo".

What a great photo for inspiration! I loved all those colors in the trees  so I used a "fall" tree
for my card. Here's what I made for this chalenge....

The Branch Out set from Stampin' Up! makes the perfect fall card ... or any season since it has leaves ( which can be spring or fall) and snowflakes, too!  I used  Momento ink ( Cantaloupe) and CTMH ink (Sunset) for my leaves . The dp is from SU and I think it just may have all the colors for the Mashup in it! The sentiment is from  a Gina K stamp set called All Occasions Tags ... the tag stamp is from that set, too. I cut the scallop circles ( Lucky Limeade & Early Espresso)  with my Cricut and Elegant Edges cartridge at 3 1/4 iches. The woodgrain embossing was made with a Tim Holtz folder. The cardbase was made with my Cricut ( Art Philosophy).

So there's my Mashup card... hope you've enjoyed it. Thanks for stopping by today!

Friday Mashup : Quilted Card

"When life throws you scraps......."
Now doesn't that get you thinking???? Of course, paper come sto mind , but what about quilts?T this week Lisa , one of the uber-talented ladies at Friday Mashup, is encouraging us to do a little spring cleaning ...... of our stash! And while your at it, why don't you try out  quilting on your cards?

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :
  1. Make a project using the "Quilted Cards Technique".
  2. Or Make a project using "Something that's been forgotten (sitting in your stash forever)".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a "Quilted card with something you've forgotten about".

You can find the link to a tutorial on quilting here.

Ok, I have a confession..... I am  absolutely awful at quilting!!! I tried , oh  how I tried, but I can never seem to make all those scraps of fabric look like anything like a pattern!!! Sooo, when I saw this challenge , I was doubtful I'd like paper quilting , but, whattya know! It's easy peasy!!! I found a link on SCS for a variety of quilting patterns and selected this pattern called  Southern Pine. Next I searched through my retired stash of Stampin'Up! dsp. Here's what I made....

This reminds me of Grandma's old fashioned quilt. The hardest part of this quilt was finding coordinating paper! I used  a stamp set from Flourish called Motherly Love for the sentiment.
The papers are all retired SU from variuos dsp packs. This technique is such a great way to use up all your old papers.... I'm already planning another card!

That's my Friday Mashup card ...... thanks for stopping by !!!

The Friday Mashup : Lucky You card

H i again, I'm back with another post. I was visiting one of my fav blogs, The Friday Mashup and just had to participate in this week's challenge!
So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :
  1. Make a project for "St. Patrick's Day".
  2. Or Make a project using "at least 2 Punches".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project for "St. Patrick's day using your Punches".

Sounds like fun doesn't it????!!! Of course, my card is a totally green, Patty's themed card!
Here it is.....

I pulled out an oldie, but definetely one of my favs, "Celtic Knots" form Stampin' Up!. I think this only gets used for St. Patrick's day crads or if I'm making something for my SIL, whose Irish. I love the details on the cross image. The only thing missing from this set is a sentiment!! I grabbed another retired  set " Afterthoughts" for the Lucky You sentiment. The paper is from my stash of " how long ago did I buy this stuff???" !!! The design looked kinda celtic to me .
For my punches, I used an oval for the cross and a heart punch for the three mini hearts to create a shamrock stickpin. The seam binding is from SU and the doily is leftover from another project.

Well, I'm sure happy to have my Mashup card finished in time!!
Thanks for stopping by... have a great crafty day!!

The Friday Mashup : Thank you card

Hello ! It's time for another Friday Mashup!  Here's this week's challenge....
We can make a thank you card or a card with patterned paper or mash it up and make a thank you card using patterned paper.

Here's what I came up with for this week's challenge.....

I made a 5X5 square card using Soft Suede as the base with a Bliss Blue mat. The striped paper is from my old paper stash. The frame form Noteably Ornate didn't fit well in the white square so I used a masking technique to make it larger. The sentiment is from Grateful Greetings, inked in Soft Suede, and is stamped on a mini label die from Spellbinders, which I inked the inside with a light blue. The ribbon is from Stampin Up and the stickpin is from Jenni Bowlin ( I think I've used a stick pin in almost every card I made lately!!!)

Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Mashup : Happy Birthday

Hello stampers! I've had so much fun this week checking out all my fav blogs and I even managed to participate in a few , like The Friday Mashup. They always have terrific prompts where you can choose from one of the two challenges or mash them up !

This week we are invited to make a birthday card or a card with pastel(s)/colors  or mash them up! I started off to make a combo but I think I fell short of the pastel. Still, I am super pleased that I have another card to add to my Bday card stash ( I never seem to have one when I need one!!!!) , so here's my Friday Mashup creation.....

I used the Art Philosphy Cricut cartridge from CTMH with the coordinating stamp, Celebration set for this Z-fold card.  Celebrate is embossed with SU Cherry scented embossing powder.... it smells so yummy!!! The pink ruffled ribbon is some of my really old SU ribbon, which I haven't ever used!  The cupcake is inked in Regal Rose on Blushing Bride cardstock and the strip behind it (Tempting Turquoise) is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. The pretty swirled/colorful circles  paper is from my bin of old papers that need to be used up..... soon!!!

Here it is opened up. Isn't this such a girlie card? So not my usual style but I love it!!!!

Thanks for looking and stopping by my blog today.........
have a great rest of your day!!!
